A Message from the Principal

Dear Goldrick Elementary Community,

I am very humbled and excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Goldrick Elementary School. I have had the privilege of serving this community for the past 4 years, and I am honored to continue to build upon the many successes that have taken place at Goldrick.

I was born and raised in a small suburb outside of Chicago. I moved to Durango, Colorado for college, where I got to call the San Juan Mountains my backyard. After graduation, my dog and I headed to Denver, where I became a fourth-grade teacher in Denver Public Schools. Seventeen years later I can honestly say I still love that dog and my work. Since then, I’ve been lucky to hold a variety of different positions in DPS; including now working with Team Goldrick. For eight amazing years, I was a 4th grade teacher. There, I not only got to teach some truly great kiddos, I started an ELA program for the adults in the community, worked to received my Masters in Bilingual Education, and became a Teacher Leader where I got to experience other classrooms and collaborate with both teachers and families outside my immediate team.  These experiences led me to a new role as a Teacher Effectiveness Coach. That worked allowed me to be involved in collaborative school leadership teams, implemented professional learning, modeled best practices, and coached teachers and school leaders in a variety of schools. From this work I was offered a position leading a new team supporting DPS schools in the central office around distributive leadership.  Three awesome years later we broke new ground in DPS, realigning the roles of both teachers and leaders. Throughout this time, though, I realized I missed the little learners. And the itch to return to my roots in a school was one I simply had to scratch. So, I headed back to school for my Principal license at Denver University. And that’s what brought me here, to my new home at Goldrick.

It’s been four years now and I can honestly say they’ve been the most humbling, educational and joyful of my career. What I love most about Goldrick has got to be the people. People, who I can say without any sliver of a doubt, are some of the most talented, interesting and interested group of students, teachers and community members I have ever worked with. I can’t wait to keep growing and learning with this amazing one-of-a-kind community.

Coupled with Robin Miranda, our school assistant principal, we plan to work in collaboration with all of the students, families, staff, and community members. We want to ensure that the systems and structures that have proven so successful are not only maintained, but elevated. As a team, we will be focused on enhancing instructional programming to help meet the needs of all of our students to ensure they are prepared for continued schooling and other post-secondary opportunities. We value setting high-expectations to provide students with rigorous learning opportunities in a safe and joyful environment.

As your new leadership team, we look forward to working closely with you in support of our children. Please know that our door is always open to you. We value your input and conversations and look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with the very best educational experience.

In closing, and simply stated, I love Goldrick and will do whatever it takes to make it the best school possible!
