Mrs. Beren

My name is Cynthia Beren.  I am married and I have three grown children.  I am a Colorado native.  I love the outdoors and I love to exercise.  My hobbies include dancing and indoor cycling (Spinning).  In the summer, I enjoy camping and hiking with my family.  We've hiked three 14ers and many "Hike of the Week" trails..  Occasionally, I engage in fly fishing with my husband.  I spend a lot of time on the golf course quietly cheering on my husband as he competes in state tournaments.  I love to read.  I believe that reading is a wonderful way to relax and exercise my mind.  My favorite genres include realistic fiction, biographies, and history.

I graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver with a BA in Sociology and an elementary education certification.  I have always enjoyed working with children.  I love the curiosity and excitement they have for learning, and I'm fascinated by the diverse learning styles they bring to the learning environment.  I believe that children want to learn and be successful.  I believe that children are gifted and talented and it is my goal to create a classroom culture that inspires and enjoy growth and development building on each child's gift and talent.

I have been a teacher in Denver Public Schools for 8 years.  I began my teaching career in a first grade classroom and I have taught 2nd grade at Goldrick for seven years.  I love teaching at Goldrick.  Goldrick is a progressive school.  The administrators, teachers, and staff are dedicated to developing their teaching skills and helping children learn and acquire the skills they need to grow and be successful- academically, socially, and emotionally.  They work diligently to create a school that values children, learning, and parents.
