Tania Hogan

My name is Tania Hogan.  I was born in AcapulcoMexico and my family (dad, mom, and sister) moved to the United Stateswhen I was five years old.  I've lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, California and finallyColorado, where I've been the last 16 years.

My dad, Tony, is Mexican and my mom, Terry,  is Hungarian and French. My husband, Jeremy and I have two children, Noah and Emily.  They keep us very busy!  We enjoy spending time with our families, hiking, camping and swimming.  We especially like to dress up as a family for Halloween!  I love reading, painting, listening to people's life stories, taking pictures and scrapbooking!

I've wanted to be a teacher since I was little and remember setting up all my stuffed animals as my "pretend" students and teaching them!   I struggled in school trying to learn English, since we only spoke Spanish at home, and had a wonderful teacher in fourth grade, Mr. Phillips, who really took the time to help me and he inspired me to work hard and never give up.  I want to continue to make a difference and help students be enthusiastic and passionate about school and to try and do their best!  I love teaching and can't imagine doing anything else!

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, both from the University of Colorado at Denver.

In my eighth year at Goldrick, I am the UCD Site Coordinator and have the opportunity to work with students, teachers and teacher candidates in all grades.  This has been a wonderful learning experience!  Previously I taught second grade for seven years.

Why do I LOVE Goldrick?   We have a hard working staff who really care about the kids and who work together to make learning FUN and educational! Of course, we also have the BEST students who make us proud every day!

I believe that all children can learn, and everyone has different strengths and abilities and we need to discover what those are.  I also believe that being bilingual is a gift and it is important to share our culture and backgrounds with others.
