My
name is Kim Pavy. I grew up in Tucson, Arizona and lived there until I
finished college at the University of Arizona. I received a Bachelor
of Science in Clothing and Textiles, and worked in retailing for many
years before deciding it time to do something more meaningful with my
life. I
had moved to Colorado during those years in retailing. I attended
Metro State College and received my degree in Elementary Education with
a minor in Special Education. I began teaching in Denver Public
Schools, and a few years later earned a Master's degree in
Mild/Moderate needs at UNC in Greeley. After teaching Special
Education for ten years, I switched to the regular classroom as a third
grade teacher. I love teaching third grade. The students are ready to
assume a bit more responsibility and they are a delight to teach.
I
have appreciated the wealth of learning that is present at Goldrick.
There are so many knowledgeable teachers here who are willing to share
that knowledge and support other teachers as they journey through each
year.
Besides
teaching, my favorite things to do are reading mysteries (mostly),
walking the dog, going to movies and many other things that probably
seem dreadfully boring to most people, but help keep my life's
challenges in perspective.
As I began my teaching career fairly late, I will probably be a teacher until I die!
