Dr. Maria Uribe
I am Dr. Maria Uribe the principal at Goldrick Elementary. I began my teaching career in my native country Colombia, South America, where I taught for 13 years in bilingual schools. After moving to Denver, I taught first grade for nine years, I was a coach and the site coordinator for the University of Colorado Denver for seven years and for the past year I have been the assistant principal. I have received various recognitions including the CABE president award in 2007. I have published a number of articles on bilingual education and second language learners. I designed the bilingual program at Goldrick and I have worked with Dr. Sally Nathenson-Mejia presenting workshops about literacy strategies for English Language Learners. I earned a Masters Degree in Multicultural and Bilingual Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Denver in Educational Leadership and Innovation.
